The only thing out of the ordinary that happened was when one of those people who accost you when you enter (just was IS their job?????) said "Hi there!" & I replied (in English style) "Alright?". The next thing is he's blabbering "Yes, yes, why? Has something happened, has somebody been HURT? ". I soon learnt to just say "Hi there" :)
 I hate those fargin' greeters. Just try to avoid eye contact and snipe someone else's cart later.

Never ever ever ever take your car to Wal Mart. Back in high school, a friend of mine took his S-10 in for an oil change. After they were done he got a little ways down the road, engine started making a horrible noise, so he shut it down. Turned out the idiots had torqued down the oil filter so hard that it was actually starting to twist apart and the casing had rips all around it. Wal Mart's response? "We can give you a new filter."

The only thing good I can say about Walmart is that it is better than the local K-Mart (dirty, and full of weirdos), and at least they have what you are looking for. Target might be a clean store with everything setup perfectly, but they have zilch for selection. I went in for some Engine Cleaner and ended up at Walmart.

I think most of Walmart's problems are brought on by their own policies. A friend of mine works for Nabisco and Walmart were the hardest people to deal with. They hire no-experience people, train them their way, and promote them to Managers. My friend says they are all totally clueless.

Not to disagree, as I too have had bad experiences at the TLE of Wal-Mart, but as far as them hiring un-intelligent people and promoting them to managers and all being clueless, Funny how they are the richest company on planet Earth. Also funny how half of the replies on here are from people in Florida...you people can't even vote right, so yea, the people running your Wal-Mart stores, the concept of black and red is probably a little difficult. I would also imagine that 80% of the people who have replied with "I'll never go in another Wal-Mart" probably go in that store weekly. All the talk about they screwed up an oil change or they screwed up a battery install....why can't you Nancy-boys change your own batteries and oil and then you wouldn't have to worry about it? Just a thought!!

Funny, and here all that time I thought it was Microsoft. I bet Sam Wal is happy in his grave now that his company is the richest on earth...

As much as there are plenty of idiots here in Florida (many manning WalMart registers and other positions), we did vote right, electing President Bush, just the sore looser democrats continued to try and use any tool they could to try and reverse that...

 - My personal opinion, but I have never and will never trust my cars to Wal-Mart. And I will definitely NEVER trust the Corvette to anyone except myself and my mechanic who is a personal fried that himself owns two Corvettes.

I'm from PA, and unless they import these so-called less-than-average people from Florida to work here, I would have to say that Walmart does not hire the best and brightest from ANY area, not just Florida. Then again, why would be best and brightest apply at Walmart, it's not one of those types of jobs.

I shop at Walmart for crap I need in a hurry, not for anything I expect to last or be of any quality. I'm sure there are things of moderate quality in there somewhere, but Walmart is in business to sell to a certain class of customer and is very successful selling to that sector.

Edited for better clarity.

Personally, I like Wal Mart. While I might not have any work done (I do it myself) except for tire changes.

Ive never had a prob with Wal Mart. I get my tires there, and like the prices/service. I like the idea of shopping for anything I need at one place

A little off-topic, but what do you guys think of Best Buy for stero installs?

They do a good job, but for a basic in-dash CD player your install charges can easily exceed the cost of the stereo! :nonod: If you mean for your Vette, forget it. They won't touch a classic.

Best Buy for a stereo install? Never, ever, ever, ever! Nor Circuit City. Nor the stereo shop around the corner with the name "Bad Boyz" or whatever.

If I can't do it myself, it ain't gonna get done. I use solder and heat-shrink tubing. They use twisted wires and electrical tape -- if you're lucky.

I had a stereo installed in my Vette by Magnolia HiFi. There were just replacing a stereo that had been stolen as an insurance job, so the cutting had already been done by someone else, but they did a nice job on the wiring. They soldered and used heat shrink, just like I would have had I done it myself. Normally I would *NEVER* do it this way, but since it was an insurance thing, I went ahead and did it like this. They even cleaned up a bunch of the very sloppy wiring that had been done by Bubba.

I used CC for a stereo and sub on my wife's car after some lowlife theif ripped it all out. They also did the subsequent alarm install. Normally I would have done it myself, but insurance was footing the bill. They did an excellent job on everything. It was easily as good as I could have done. The guy even cleaned up all the leftover wiring from an installation of the previous owner's alarm. Best Buy on the other hand seems to employ a lot of stupid kids. I wouldn't take anything there.

Wal Mart is a scary place sometimes. I've had a few experiences but this is the only one Vette related. My then gf and I had taken a trip in the Vette and on the way back Wal Mart was the easiest place to stop and pick up some essentials. On the way out of the store I see a shopping cart fling from the arms of a young woman straight towards the Vette! My gf went running to catch it, but I knew it was too late. Before the cart even struck the car I turned my attention towards the assailent. She was already in her car and heading towards me when my gf screamed "it barely touched the car." I didn't care....the fuse was already burned. I stepped out in front of her car causing a bark from her tires. I banged hard on her window and she, for some stupid reason, opened it. The first few words out of my mouth were a number of obbsenities. She said, "I'm sorry, I've had a bad day." I laughed and said, "we're all having a bad day. She's having a bad day (pointing at some random lady walking by), I've had a bad day, everyone's had a bad day, but everyone dosen't throw shopping carts at other people's cars for no reason." She started crying. I swallowed all my anger and said, "look lady, just THINK before you do something stupid." She drove off crying and I drove home thinking about how much I hated Wal Mart. :mad

You made her cry??? You're just a big meanie! :jester I wish people would learn to respect other peoples possessions, even if they don't care about their own. I'm always worried about my car, even if it does look like a pile of crap, I still don't want it to look worse because someone else decides to be careless.

All I can say is this: I never have and never will take my Vette to a Wal*Mart. Same goes for shopping malls. Too risky.

Another thought: Wal*Mart is currently doing studies to learn why they are viewed negatively by many people. True! :yesnod:

Yah, she cried. At the time I felt kinda bad since the car wasn't hurt, but it's just funny now. OK...there was a bit of satisfaction at the sight of tears :D. I haven't taken the Vette to Wal Mart since then.

What I've found though is that if you drive your car reguarly at all something will happen to it. I took the Vette to a party at a friends house and some jerk keyed it. He actually did me a favor since it needed to be painted though. Some guy made a left hand turn right in front of me while I was doing 60 (55 zone) forcing me to swerve hard enough that the car spun around into a pole. I'm still getting the car back together from that one.

I'm not going to stop driving my car just because there are some idiots out there that can't control themselves. When the car is back together I'll be taking it to the beach and movies again as much as possible. No Wal Mart though.
