Default Heavy Duty Starter (Mean Green)

Anyone have any recommendations for a strong, heat resistant starter?

We had a brand new starter put on, and within 2 days, the solenoid was fried...and this was wrapped in heat wrapping. The headers are putting out so much heat, the solenoid is getting killed.

I found this site: http://www.mean-green.com/

They state that their integrated solenoid design will stand up to header heat, even in race applications. Has anyone ever used one of their products?

Or does anyone have any other suggestions, before we order from them?

Thanks

Wrap your headers, so they don't produce as much heat...., and use a heat blanket for the starter... that should fix the problems.

Might try relocating the cylinoid, might even be able use one of those relocating kits on your old starter and save some $.

They look nice! I didn't see a price though. I use the Summit racing brand gear reduction (Made by Power Master) for 500+ ci and 17:1 compression with a 168 tooth flex plate. It zings up my little motor.
