Just bought a 78 Pace Car. All Original, only 1600 miles. It's A canadian and measures speed and odometer in Kilometers. Is there a way to convert to Miles? Do I need a new speedometer or is there something internal I can do? And do you think I should, or should I just keep it original? Any feedback greatly appreciated!!! :seeya
You can buy a replacement speedometer that is in MPH, if you are looking for a used speedometer contact Gary Gruhala at Gruhala Enterprises. http://www.angelfire.com/mo2/GruhalaEnterprises
His phone is 636-586-3909, Gary is a first class guy and if he has a good used speedometer he'll sell it to you for a good price.
If you are looking for a new or refurbed speedometer Zip Products has 140 MPH speedometers http://store.yahoo.com/zipproducts/zip-d-607.html
There is another place that will convert your speedometer to a 140MPH speedometer fairly inexpensively, [/b]Redline Gauge and Clock Repair[/b] (no web site)
1-800-375-2310, ask for John. Very,very reasonable price and another good guy to deal with.
This shouldn't be a big deal... My '79 is "bilingual" The large #'s are Km/H and the little ones are MPH... The '78 I drove was the same....
Besides, I think the US speedo's only went to 90~ish MPH.... My '79 came with a 150 MPH speedo... :hurray:
Leave it Ridgy Didge!
You will soon learn that
35mph = 60Kmh
43 mph = 70Kmh
50mph = 80 Kmh
62mph = 100 Kmh
70mph = 112 Kmh
etc etc Conversion factor the other way is 1.609 Km per mile
Driving an Imperial car in a metric world or vice versa isn't too hard.
To all you Californians,
You had better get used to the metric system. Your new Governor was born in Europe and is used to the metric system and when he introduces it in Ca, who has gonna have the ***** to say no to him? :lol: :jester :cheers:
Not saying it's a bad idea but we had a president that wanted the US to be converted over to the metric system by......1980. His name was Jimmy Carter.

I thought you already had choosed the metric system and had begun to use decimals?! :smash:
Measures up to 240 Kilometers and also has a 150 readout in mph's inside the Kilometers. It is unique, I figured when peolple look at the odometer it is easier to just read miles than explain that it measures in Kilometers. Thanks for the feedback!!
Thanks for the feedback. It does go up to 240 KPH in big numbers and 150 MPH in small blue numbers. No, I do not plan on putting many "kilometers" on it. Just the occasional Sunday drive. I think I'll just leave it original and enjoy it!!
