Default Moving steering column rearward for Steeroids install

I thought I had seen the steps involved in doing this but search turned up nada. Do I loosen just the 2 bolts under the column or are there more?

There's also two bolts on the firewall holding the lower end of column in place. As far as I remember there were nothing more to unbolt!

I did not think a steeroids setup needed to shorten the column any...but maybe ....at any rate, the collapsable portion of it, can be shoved into the column quite a bit, I retracted mine about 4 inches worth for the install of my own r/p setup...

I also moved the column to the rear as far as it could go, by adding a 3/4 inch wood spacer between the firewall flange and the firewall, and flipping/modifying the bolts on the column inside to allow the ears to move rearward a bit....

The u-joints are binding so I thought I would move the column rearward to allow the u-joints to straighten and hopefully "unbind". How did you collapse the collapsible part of the column? I only need bout an inch or 2.

Ah, I misunderstood your intentions, thought you just wanted to pull back the column to install the u-joints etc. Atually moving around the lower end of the column (not shortening it) might work for this situation. I had some binding when I installed my steeroids, my upper u-joint (the double joint) seemed to be at a too tight angle so I moved the end of the column up just a bit and it helped.

The hole in the firewall is big enough to allow a little adjusting, just loosen the bolts and move the lower end around.

In my case the double joint was binding, the upper joint on it was almost straight and the lower was at a too great an angle, moving the column end up just a bit evened things out making the upper joint angle greater and the lower joint angle smaller. Other adjustments just didn't seem to help.
