We made 609hp with a dominator and a spacer. We ended up with 578hp with my HP950 and no spacer due to hood clearance. This was on a SF-901 crank dyno on Pump Gas.
I put it in friday night and I've been driving it. It is one wicked machine! We made peak power at 7200rpm, and I'm planning on shifting at 7600 rpm. I have a 8000 chip in the MSD. We made 15 pulls to 7600rpm on the dyno!
The dyno owner took a couple of digital pics on the dyno, I'll try to get them for ya'll.
Jay dang-it ! You really got on this one . When we met last year your car was running with the old motor and I don't think you got started on this until spring this year did you ?
For those of you that do not know Jay , he is a great young Man.... building motors like this when this age can only mean two things. He will burn out soon or...... you have met a Prostock guy at an early age cause I don't believe going fast is going to stop here with Jay. He loves this stuff and has 4 series gears and a automatic/big stall . Most big block Vettes will want to stay away from him :D
Now .... if you would just build a larger motor next time round and put it in a Tunnel Jet :)
I'll try to post the dyno sheets when I get home tonight. The best horsepower was with a 1250 Dominator, and a 3 inch spacer. The 3 inch spacer is what made most of the horsepower, but I can't fit it under my hood.
I absolutely love my new motor. I honestly believe that it is more streetable than my old 355!! I got up this morning and barely touched the key and it fired right up. I even walked back inside after I fired her up, and she idles perfect.
Thanks for all the kind words. I actually had a professional engine builder help me out with this one, because I did a few mistakes on the first 409 I built. I can't say enough good things about this guy. I would definately reccommend him if you want somebody to do it right for you. He also taught me a ton of things.
I only made 496hp when I built it the first time. The engine builder got somebody else to do a little work to my heads (they had already been ported), added almost a point of compression, and got my cam reground. These few things equaled 113hp on the dyno!

I actually have a borrowed 8in 5500rpm A1 stall. That's a $900 stall. The thing is so awesome. I just got back ffrom driving the car to lunch. It's a serious tire-fryer!
