It was a tough decision but I realized that stuffing hardware into the hatch of the C5 as I engaged in more frequent hardware purchases for home projects was not going to help the interior appearance. Add to that a need to lower my indebtedness (monthly payments) and regular comments from the wife after three years that the vette wasn't practical, and that sealed its fate. The dealer gave me a decent trade-in (well, at least I could accept it without swooning) and I'm now a proud owner of a Victory Red, '03 Chevy Silverado Extend Cab 4x4 (Z71).
I'll be keeping the C3...
P.S. I kept the C5 leather owners manual jacket for use with my C3. Gotta have something to remember it with.
I bought my Corvette from a contractor in Florida. I even still have the marks on top of the t-top where his daughter placed the top onto some sandpaper that was laying in the back before she went cruising around  .
Out of curiosity, why a 4x4 in Florida  . Enjoy
Re: I'm a One-Corvette Man Once Again... (SmokedTires)
The 4x4 will allow trips to northern climates over holidays as well as allow fording of flooded Florida roads after heavy rains. Also, the price was fanstastic (around $28K because of rebates/incentives and before adding in sales tax/fees and the refinanced portion of my C5).
Well, would you honestly want to Own a C5? They are nice cars, for sure. No doubt. Fast, handle like crazy, semi-nice looking (marginal looks...kind of an ugly car actually..)
My C3 may be slow & handle like a limosuine...but I'll take it any day over the C5.
Car and Driver - "After 50 years, its a wonder how such a popular car can still have an interior that is a borderline piece of sh-t" :smash: :smash:
For 75,000 CDN... I would expect a little more than what you get from the general in today's corvette. I dont know what its like down south, but up in Edmonton...there are an awful lot of weinermeisters in C5's, who know damn near nothing about their car, or the heritage of it.
Re: I'm a One-Corvette Man Once Again... (Hobbes Blk '80)
I must agree on the looks of the 4x4 being  . Never thought of floods in FL, but I definitely think of the 4x4 with all the lake effect snow we get in Upstate NY  .
