I have a heck of a time getting my 76 running when I first start it. It seems to be starving for fuel. I will run a little and then act like it is out of gas. On restart, it will run a bit more and then stop again. I have to pump the pedal quite a bit until it finally seems to have enough fuel.
After startup, when I go around a fairly sharp corner or sometimes just out of the blue, the car will "hiccup" and almost stop. It then seems to catch itself and continues to run.
Does this seem like a ful flow issue? Could I have a bad fuel pump? How about the fuel filter? I can't find one on this thing and not even sure it has one.
At least it is running again after a long sit waiting for the wheel bearings. It runs smoother now than ever before and even the suspension seems softer. My mech did a super job on the rear alignment.
I just had a problem with mine not to long ago. Look in the tank and see if the fuel sock is dirty and if there is any crap in the tank. When was the last time you replaced your fuel filter. I would replace that it is cheap enough. Last but not least I blew out my fuel line with compressed air and I had a major blockage pop out. I replaced my fuel pump but I believe that wasnt necessary. My tank and line lines were just dirty after years of use.
Thanks for the replies. NOW - just where is this mysterious "sock?" I always lose socks in the dryer so please do me a favor and help me find my sock
