I was wondering... would you notice the difference if you fitted a spreader to a street vette? ... or is it just really a performance mod?
i've always thought that my car felt a bit jittery at the front end (you can really feel the separate chassis, if you know what i mean) ... wondered if a spreader bar would make much difference for normal driving?
Thanks everyone for all the positive comments. It's great to have one's efforts appreciated so much.....I've gone all warm and fuzzy inside now. :D
Anyhow, now that I've got that out, I'll try to explain where I'm up to with the bar and brackets. All the final welding has been completed and smoothed out to where the brackets are almost ready for chrome plating. Yes I know, I just can't help myself. I ended up going with 6 mm steel plate and as you can see I've added a return across the top to counter any flex that would occur from the lateral forces the bar will exert on the mounting brackets. Especially now that I've moved the bar as close to the centre of the bracket as possible.
The bar ends are all done and the stainless bar is polished up nicely, but the steel ends will have to be either painted or powder coated. Probably going to go with paint for the moment to see what it looks like. All in all it's finished up as a pretty sturdy piece and should do it's job fairly well. I'll post more pics when it's all fitted in place finally.
Aussie John...The first shout is on me. Also I'll try to get some specs for you soon too.

I put the VBP version on my 82 and it seems like it is more stable up front. It might be all in my head but at least I'll think I got my money's worth. :D
Btutus after see your 1st post on the spreader bar I have found a way to fit one between my blower belt and rear mounted electric fan and this is one of the modifications I will be making this winter.
You do nice work

Thanks Norval....I knew you'd find a way to make it fit your application without too much trouble. It's winter here now, tho the weather's been all but perfect for the most part. Even good enough for tops off cruising.....but then there's today with cold winds and rain.
theandies...Yes you're right about having to need an electric fan for this type of bar set up to fit properly. Not much chance of going into production, tho I will be making anouther set for a friend in the US.
