Re: 79 coupe body not sitting level. (smoothsailing)
The lower the spring is on the bolt the lower the car. The more bolt you see hanging out of the car the higher it will be. Measure from the ground in front of the rear wheels to the bottom of the frame. You need to check what factory height is. Should be around 8 and 3/4 inches. Really it odes not matter as long as the frame is level with the ground.
If you do make changes then consider a front end alignment if one hasn't been done for a while.
I also agree with the no-passenger theory. Most vettes have been driven solo for 30+ years hence there has been no load on the righ side fo the car. The left side would thus sag more over a period of time.
Re: 79 coupe body not sitting level. (smoothsailing)
HMMM... well the bolt is bolted directly to the frame, and if the bolts are the same length, and you have all the correct bushings installed, then I would have to say it's the frame, and perhaps it was in an accident, and they put the body back on the crooked frame, There is no telling what could be the true culprit then. I am trying to invision another possibility so pick this one apart. What if the Spring was manufactured poorly, perhaps the spring rate is much greater on the passenger side rather than the drivers side, would this cause the apperence of the spring sitting lower, "deeper pitch" while making an even higher resistance therefore pushing the car up on that side more? Is this possible?
