[PICS]Picked The Camaro Up!
My uncle and I picked the Camaro up Thursday and I finally got around to snapping some pictures of it. Here they are:
Here are the specifics on the Camaro. It's a 1977 Camaro that is made to look like a 1970 Camaro. The spoiler on it is from a 1977 Camaro and will be replaced. It's got:
- Narrowed Ford 9" Rear End
- 4.56 Gears w/ A Spool
- Strange 31 Spline Axles
- Complete Art Morrison Tubular Frame Back Half
- Art Morrison Ladder Bars
- Coil Over Shocks
- Tubbed Out To Accomodate 14" Wide Rims
- 8 Point Roll Cage
- Welded In Sub Frame Connectors
- Fiberglass Racing Seats
The plan is to redo my 468 to put out 700-750 horsepower with a TH400, 5000 stall converter and transbrake. This will be a fun project :) .

Looking pretty good there Shane. Body looks solid. :yesnod:
Did you get a chance to check your e-mail. I know you're pretty busy with your girl friend. :D
Hey, If you're selling your Hooker sidemounts, can I have first dibs? :yesnod:

Very nice Shane  . I kinda wish I had a car just for drag racing (I now have a set of rear wheels & tires though :D ) .
My buddy just ran a 9.80 at 145mph yesterday with his 374 TT sbc in a 1969 Camaro with DOT MT ET's on 10" wide wheels :D . He's still dialing in his car, but is having a ball driving it to all the different local cruises.

First of all, you're not stupid.
You have to upload the pic/pics to a host, ex: picturejudge.com
Then you can cut and paste the URL in between these tags-----> [IMG][/IMG]
If you're still not sure, feel free to IM me....and of course, welcome to the forum!!!

Congrats Shane, you do realize that to complete the rear spoiler as is, you just need the 70-73 end pieces, the centers are all the same. Unless you prefer the low profile of course.
Curious as to why they brought the overhead loop so far forward, mine and most that I've seen are even where the door meets the quarter, kinda hiding it.
Good Luck with it though.

bence13_33: before you get 'too-far' along in this project, you might wanna tow your '70/'77 Camaro to Pittsburgh Raceway Park on a Thursday eve 'test-n-tune'. A buddy of mine did chassis-certification, and the rules for chassis change over the years (I know: I originally owned Frank Brank's S&W dragster).
If your car was 'done' several years ago, it may've been OK 'then', but need a few things 'now'. Plus, IHRA has different rules than NHRA, too (most ARE the same, but.....). For instance, I think your fuel pump (picture #1) needs to have a 'shield' around and/or under it; at least it would've needed a shield in the early '90s.
Things like this, if not discovered until you 'think' you're ready to race, will frustrate you very much; things like needing to increase bar diameter, bar-placement, gussets for bars, integrity of the welds, battery mounts, seat mounts, seat-belt mounts, etc.
If PRP doesn't have staff 'on-hand' to inspect your car to IHRA-specs (I assume you'll run there), you might wait until the September 19-21 'Pro-Am'; IHRA personnel 'should' be on-hand for chassis-certification.
Just my $.02 worth.....

Re: [PICS]Picked The Camaro Up! (Glensgages)
Shane,
Based on the above post, if your goal is to at least a 9.99 in the quarter or faster then 6.40 in the eighth, then yes a chassis certification is needed and it might be something you should follow as the project progres's. (You'll already need to convert to a 10 point cage, along with a dash bar) If it's not and you know the tech guy at the track you run, just has him stop by and look a the car as it is now, have him point out any major/minor infractions that would not allow you to run and go from there.
It's NHRA's way of making bucks, that and the chassis builders. Is there a difference between a 9 second car from 10 years ago, and one that is going 9 seconds today - doubtful. But each and every year a seems it bar has to be added here or there, or the diameter has to be changed, etc...
Royal PITA.
And the IHRA tracks are alot more lenient then NHRA.
