so I go to get in my car last night, and I push down the handle, and I hear a wierd noise, then the handle goes limp..........the spring is still intact, but the rod or whatever it hooks up to fell off
how much work am I looking at? is it an easy fix if I take off the door panel? i was talking to a guy and he said some sort of plastic clip might need to be replaced, is this true?
The only tough part should be getting the door open. Once it's open you can get the panal off and (at least on a 75) everything is right there. It does sound like a little clip broke off one of the rods.
Good luck!
My problem was with the lock sticking so neither handle worked.
Yeah. The linkages are all fairly easy to get to. I took my whole door lock out in a matter of about 5 minutes. Your linkage arrangement is probably slightly different but there should be an access hole right up in that area.
ok... shows what I know... I told glutamine it would take 2 hours. I'm thinking back to the 75 I owned, and I had to open to door by going through the door panel and pissing around with a screw driver until it popped open. I recal having a LOT of trouble reconnecting the linkage up at the handle but maybe i was drunk at the time and couldnt see... Come over this weekend glutmaine, I'm sure the two of us put together can figure that out and kill a 40 oz.
Easy fix..........It will take you longer to take the panel off than to put the clip back on. 30 minute job...........or a 2 beer job depending how you look at it.
