I have one in my 69.
I did have a little bit of a clearance issue with a little bracket that is welded onto the bell housing that is not used. It sits right above the opening for the clutch fork to go through and it was rubbing against the under side of the body. You may check if they make a specific model for a vette that does not have that accessory bracket welded to it. I had to cut it off for proper clearance.

Re: Lakewood scattershield question (69ttop502)
I'm in the process now of aligning the bellhousing. I emailed Lakewood as to the suitability, as their description ends with V8's at '82 (I think) I'm using an '87 Mark IV in a 1970 and they said there should be no problem.
I had to take the side grinder to my bellhousing flange because it hit the passenger side header on a small block (Hooker headers). The flange is very wide though, and I don't think it made any difference in the strength. Other than that, it fit perfect (again, on a small block).
If anyone is interested I have a nice Lakewood scattershield out of a Corvette race car (so it will fit your car without mods). $150+UPS e-mail direct!! redvetracr@msn.com
