Re: 79 vette wont start (steve899)
Have you checked the battery voltage? See if you have full voltage at the battery and then hit the starter and see if you still have voltage. Could be a dead cell on your battery.
thanks Ill check the battery tomorrow funny thing about it the stereo worked pretty good just the right front and rear werent working should have left it alone
well I hooked up the charger and it started rightup I was thinking the worst fuselinks etc.
I had a 68 years ago with a constant battery drain and after taking it to a so called auto electric which replace the front harness that didnt do anything to fix the problem it .
it wound up being the wiper position switch under the dash 68s were notorius for that cost to fix about 2 bucks
anyways thanks to all of you for the help
steve!!!
Probably not what you have but...I had the same type problem with my 81. Turn out the negative cable that ran from the battery and connected to the frame had a crack in the plastic and the cable had corroded all inside the cable. I got a new cable from NAPA for about $12.00, cleaned off the frame connection (with sand paper), smeared on some conductive stuff for electrical connections and no more problem.
