I'm planning a trip to southern PA in Nov. Any tips on Corvette related sites to visit?
flynhi, have you been out in the hot Texas sun without wearing a hat?
Roads in Pa. during November are clogged-up with hunters going to camp, who'll be dodging PENNDOT trucks trying to fill 3-foot wide pot-holes, once they get the snow onto the shoulder of the road!
Tip? You wanna tip?
Go to Florida in November, compete in one of the 5-day 'Bracket Bashes' thrown at various drag-dtrips across the state! Consider adopting a 44-year-old gage-maker, who owns his own '82 Corvette, and knows enough to avoid Pa. in November!!!
:yesnod:
I live in south central Pa near the Maryland line and can't think of anything Vette related to see here.(Unless you want to swing by for a beer.)November is getting close to the park it till the springtime time,in fact I stopped visiting my folks that live in Ct for Thanksgiving, due to the numerous times stranded in snow squalls around Scranton.Actually spent the night in a fire hall due to a squall that shut down the highway.
The Harley factory is pretty neat and so is Gettysburg. I lived in both York and Gettysburg. About the only Corvette related place I can think of would be Stoudt's, a Vette dealership in Reading, PA. You aren't too far from Lancaster, PA either if you wantr to do some more sightseeing.
If you'd be interested, the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania is located in Strasburg, Pa., just 6 miles from Lancaster. Many restored steam, electric, & diesel locomotives, freight cars, passenger cars, exhibits, etc.
Across the street is the 'Strasburg Railroad', offering 'steam excursions' in old, restored passenger coaches...
Actually, I think I am as far north in the state as is possible. I am in the liitle area in between NY and Ohio that abuts Lake Erie. Erie PA baby! Last year I drove the vette with the windows down on November 7. It was around 65 degrees I think!
If you come to this part of the state, amke a trip to Linesville PA, and visit the shop of Bairs Corvettes. They are one of the best suppliers for vette parts and incredibly friendly. If 'Yogi' Bair is there (which he usually seems to be) he will talk with you and usually give you a tour of the premises. Great place.
If you come to Erie, I'll put you up, and buy you a hat if the knit hat if the snow has beat you here :jester
These guys are crazy, I've here the last fifty years and we never had snow, (Well maybe once, and only a dusting) of snow in November and it usually not till late in December when we get any snow. I live around Philly and this end of the state has lots of thing to do. However not too many corvette related. Anyway, have a good time. :seeya
