Default '68 427 or not?

We have a '68 convertible. The hood has the 427 emblems on it but it has a 350 engine. We don't know the history of the car. Is there a way we can tell if the car was originally a 427 or did someone replace the hood with the 427 emblems on it. The bulk head that supports the radiator seems to be a bulk head for a larger radiator which makes us think it originally had a 427 engine.

the front sway bar would be over 1 inch, rear end would have caps and bolts
one fuel line on the right side frame rail, rear sway bar, 5600 red line, 390 had
2 fuel lines though, you have the bb hood. those are your biggest clues

A Q-jet 427 would have 2 fuel lines. At least the 69 does

I agree, and my very original 68 does have 2 fuel lines for the 390.

I disagree on the front swaybar being larger that 1" I believe they were just under at 7/8 or 15/16

The tach being the hardest to change would be my 1st look.

Then the HD caps on the 1/2 shafts, Radiator and shroud.

If it is a BB, the frame will be bent because they all got sideways (bias ply tires vs. torque) and hit something. A Corvette shop told me this...

I just measured the sway bar on my 68 BB Vert. with calipers and it is exactly one inch. And my frame is not bent. And it has a 5600 red line on the tach. The numbers on my engine match up the serial number so I know it is a real BB Vette. Not ALL BB cars have hit something

Not without factory documentation. Without it, you're probably guessing and hoping.
