shifter problem....can't get it into reverse

Default shifter problem....can't get it into reverse

I've installed a stock Corvette shifter handle onto Hurst linkage......the new shifter hits the trim plate and prevents it from going into reverse....just wondering if there might be something mis-aligned in the linkage?????


Any ideas?????

Seems to be common for the shifter to hit the front of the trim plate. Even my Hurst comp plus shifter assemby did that, just not enought to stop it from going into gear. I replaced the Hurst with the stock set-up and It still hits. I think it is a design error.You can put shims or washers under the mounting brackets rear flange.. That will tilt the entire shifter assembly rearward, but then you will need to re-adjust the linkage.

I should have been more clear.....the shifter is hitting against the driver's side of the trim plate, not the top or front..........Thanks

im sorry but i dont know the answer to the original question but the answer to yours is shorter "ears" on the trans where your linkage hooks to it...it will give you a shorter "throw"...
on some years there are actually 2 holes on each "ear" and you would put your linkage thru the hole closer to the trans shaft...
