Very Impressive to say the least on the amount of work done so far and looking good...
I grew up in Jacksonville and use to go to Orange Park all the time when it was the boonies..
Do they still have the Great Raft Race there?

Nomad, you mean the Mug Race??? yes they do, I used to belong to the Rudder Club....ran out of money to pursue that hobby also....besides I"m not so limber to be sailing anymore....shame too, used to do a LOT of it...
Re: Body back on frame-- Almost finished!!!!!!! (69Myway)
. . . I believe I can to the next one even faster. The more of these I do, the better I know what to expect and how to prepare for the process to get it done faster. Kind of my own version of Monster Garage....or shall we say McSpeed Garage!
Looks great!!!! Time to challenge yourself a little more, do I see the next one as a C2 or even a C1?
Re: Body back on frame-- Almost finished!!!!!!! (74-Roadster)
Slow day today. The door fitting really slowed me down, as well as stripping the old laquer paint out of the jams.
The door gaps are looking great. I like to leave a little extra room on the convertibles since they flex so much anyway.
After I have fit the doors, I drill and tap threads into the door side hinge. I do this in the top and bottom. This way I can take the door back off to jam it in, then reinstall it exactly the way I took it off.
I do have a C2 in the works for sometime next year. I will be replacing the bird cage on it as well. I need to do some more research first.

I like the fan, what is the brand name of the fan. Is it an 17-19" fan? It looks like a Flex-lite fan. Will you be running an aux fan?
I am not sure what the brand of the fan or size was. It is being replaced with a stock style fan and fan clutch.
BTW-My goal is to get the jams finished and sprayed to the extent I can take the car back to the owner by Monday night. I have to squeeze a wedding on Saturday in there. It is going to be tough!

I gotta ask . . . Are you married? Do you have any kids? And when do you go shopping, cook food and mow the yard?
Re: Body back on frame-- Almost finished!!!!!!! (74-Roadster)
After thinking about it for a while, the wedding you're referring to is probably your own . . . and you probably made the wedding cake yourself in your free time.
Well, Married..yes, Kids...one on the way, shopping..I HATE going shopping (unless it is for go fast parts), cook food....the wife does that, but I have to clean the dishes...MOW THE LAWN...now for the drum roll...she does that more than half the time!!!!!!!!
I kind of backed myself into a corner. I did not work on the car at all this week in the evenings, and that puts me on the bubble for getting it rolling this weekend. I am going to have a little help, but pausing to go to my buddies wedding will disrupt the flow a bit.
Re: Body back on frame-- Almost finished!!!!!!! (69Myway)
Very nice website!!! You are truly a talented and motivated guy to do such a large amount of work in such a short time with such terrific results.
I thought you guys down south were pretty much free of the rust bug but I see that's not necessarily the case. Has that car spent some time up north in the salt?
Looks like a lot of guys are doing the "body drop" thing lately. It's encouraging. Mine goes on this weekend as well, or bust!
Re: Body back on frame-- Almost finished!!!!!!! (69Myway)
Ahhhhhhh, fresh air!
I just finished hacking out all the rough prep and shooting the first coat of primer on the inner doors, jams, repaired areas, and the deck lid inner.
I will let it cure out overnight. After church on Sunday, I am going to scuff down the primer, take care of the minor stuff, roll it outside, give it a good wash, roll it back in, and prep for the jam painting.
I will be off work monday...so it is looking like I might meet my goal.
Oh...the wedding was nice...but weddings really aren't my thing.
Re: Body back on frame-- Almost finished!!!!!!! (69Myway)
As promised....updates with pics.
The paint is drying as I write this. Monday, I will bolt the doors back on, and start to reassemble to the point it can now go back to the owner's house for a while. He is trying to talk me into prepping the entire body for paint...but I need a break for a bit so I can get the six speed in my 69 and get the 85 383 project rolling.
This color blue he picked is beautiful. It has a special blend of blue pearl. The pic I took close up in the passenger jam does not do it justice. I think there was some dust on the lense or something.
So....there you have it. From July to now, the body frame, frame off, inner structure is complete!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, just the basic paint and body, and reassembly. Another Shark saved from the grave!!!!!!!!!
I will get the car back in two months. At that time, it should be mechanically sound (electrical, cooling, suspension aligned...etc) I will strip all the old paint off and begin the long tedius process of blocking, priming, guide coating..etc. to reach perfection.
