I can`t tell you the difference but I have Hooker competition/ race headers w/side pipes and there is NO way to install a muffler the side pipe is bent at both ends. ...redvetracr
I think the Comps are 1 5/8 tubes and not very equal length. The Super Comps are 1 3/4 tubes and the length is more equal. This is for small blocks not sure on big blocks. I am running the Comps on mine and they work fine

I agree. I have a set of 1 3/4" primary tube Super Comps and in my opinion they are too big for the 383 that I was running them on. I went from 1 5/8" Blackjack cheapies to the SCs and LOST a noticable amount of low end grunt, even with a fairly stout 383. If you are running a 350ish ci motor, I would stick with the 1 5/8" tube size as Gordon has (unless you're gonna wind it to the moon). There are guys out there running 468" big blocks in 11 second (or faster) 4000lb cars that still only use 1 3/4" primary tube headers.
Super comps are larger tube, equal length headers, and thus make more upper end power but sacrifice low end torque. You need an engine that lives in the 3-7K range or higher to benefit from the Super comps. Having said that, it was the single best thing I ever did for my BOSS 302. Absolutely amazing increase in performance.
I went with Sanderson headers for my BB, there quality and fit are excellent and I paid less than what the super comps cost. Mine are block hugger design with 1 3/4 tubes into a 3" collector. I have heard that Hooker has had many quality problems and so far after 2+ years mine are still perfect. Check them out on the web at http://www.sandersonheaders.com . I think a few other members have them as well, very good product you will like them. Oh yeh, get the jet coated ones......
I have angled plug heads too, Trick Flow 23 degree installed with no problems on my 388ci motor. I have the Super Comp. Sidepipe headers and I used Stage 8 header bolts to lock them down.
