i ordered a new rear storage compartment frame and door bezels for my 74 and got them today  it appears that the old doors will have to be screwed into the new door bezels, which isn't a problem, my question is about the main frame itself....the old hinges are workable, however, it looks like they are rivited to the old main frame....how should i attach the hinges to the new frame? thanks in advance

Looks like your best bet would be to rivet the hinges on there... That's what I would do...

looks like a new rivet gun in my future :) thanks oliver
When I did mine last winter I tried to repace the rivets with new smash rivets and I could not get them to smash straight. They would smash to one side and I couldn't get them tight. I then used 3/16th pop rivets with some washers and I ended up with a nice job, but it was a lot of work. I also replaced the carpet at the same time. If I had it to do over I would buy the preassembled compartment door set. Craig
I made my own...cut off an end from an air chisel bit , and slightly ground the middle in so it looks like a slight curve. place the flat end of the rivet on a solid piece of metal, put the modified bit in the air chisel, squeeze the trigger, and make sure the tool is square on the rivet...the rivet crushed good. Had a second set of hands holding the piece straight and steady...
