Re: For those looking for a cheap C5... (GrandSportC3)
thats a good deal for that car if i had the xtra cash id bid on it,were looking for a c5,that car around here would sell for about $18,000 .And yes i want an automatic.
Re: For those looking for a cheap C5... (patsnitrovette)
I doubt there is anything particularly wrong with that '97. It will probably make a good car for someone. I believe the C5's can take a pretty good beating without becoming too clapped out. Unless the price is REALLY right, I would probably pass on the '97 models so I could take advantage of the minor improvements made to the following year models.
The wait for relatively inexpensive C5's is getting pretty short now. For example, back in April I saw a black on black '98 with 66K miles for $19K. If your really serious about getting a cheap C5, make it a daily ritual to search for bargains on TraderOnline. If the price is right, it would be worth making a 1000 mile road trip to bring it home.

"vehicle displays a few dings and scratches around the exterior, adding some quality character to this otherwise fine automobile"
yeah right..... this is a car that trades in for 11000 dollars, below wholesale my butt..
it's in rough shape and tops are expensive, i can see cigarette burns on the drivers side as well as where a sode spilled from the cup holder and stained the carpet....there is water damage in the back where it wasn't closed good i'm sure and it doesn't have the hardtop. this is all visible after a scrub job. the same thing my make ready dept does to new and used cars at the dealership. not worth it IMH...but trade in educated...O
Re: For those looking for a cheap C5... (GrandSportC3)
There is 3 days left on that auction that is why the price is were it is at. Some people prefer to not bid on it till the end to not drive up the price. Track that auction and I bet it ends above $18,000.

18k would be way too expensive... If I would be looking for a C5 right now - I would consider paying up to maybe 14k for that one. I would get a used replacement top and with a little attention - that car could turn out pretty nice.. (not perfect.. but nice)...

Could have intermittent electrical troubles. Run...Lassie...Run
My brother has a 95 Grand Prix GTP that has something going on where the dash will flicker and the speedo/tach go crazy. Sometimes the car would die for no reason and then be tough to restart; all with no codes.

I agree with Mike . . . except I'm not willing to go 1000 miles, maybe 300. Mike, since the car is here in Arlington, I talked to Angie about going to see it and maybe bidding, but I really want a 98 coupe or 99 convertible. Gotta get past that 1st year issue. The deals will be coming more and more.
And an owner woule be lucky to get dealer trade-in above $12,000. So if it sells for much above $14,000, I'll be surprised. Definately worth watching!
IMO...three reasons...
1...automatic trans
2...automatic trans
3...automatic trans
i personaly do not understand why anyone would want an automatic vette...
no flames please...just my opinion... :)

My reason to buy a automatic C5 was bracket racing.. You'll never be that consistent with a stick shift...
