The advise Chuck gave you is dead on....
I have the spiral baffles in my sidepipes and will buy JCL's heat shield down the road some when my vette is closer to being finished. I will get the unfished ones and have them jet hot coated to match my pipes I do believe.

Arkansasflash posted these a while back. If and when I get my sidemounts I think I'll get these.

I installed the satin slotted set of heat shields and they do a great job of protecting tender flesh from nasty burns. One thing though, the mounting brackets are made for a smaller OD pipe, so I had to modify them to fit the Hookers. They are about the same length as the JCL shields, and don't look too bad. I was uncertain whether I liked the look, but now I think I like them. I took my car over to an all Corvette show today ( hosted by Red Line Corvette Club at Courtesy Chevrolet in Thousand Oaks, CA ), and I got lots of  on the looks. I'll post pictures when I get the time to take some.....I've been really busy at work lately.
