Len I recently suffered a fire incident on my corvette, well actually the shop that was welding the exhaust did it. Anyways... when the gas tank caught on fire they tore off my flip up cover and ripped the hinge. Now I need to figure something else out. I was thinking about a lemans style gas cap and then went to your web site. could you fill me in on the details? How do I go about this, could I take a normal gas cap, cut the top off and have someone at my shop mold it to a lemans style so that it would just thread in? Or is that not a good idea since it would prolly just get stolen... Any advice is greatly appreciated. My filler opening is the sending unit one from ecklers if it matters.

Re: 1970 Stingray/Len........gas cap... (munday)
Well to keep things brief, I'll refer you to a page from my site: http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c3/the...t/index7.shtml This will give you some history and details about the cap. In the middle of that page you'll see another link directing you to the Forum's FAQ. There you'll find drawings, pics and a brief description byRolling Thunder. The cap(s) would not exist without Dave's contribution and over-all "running with the ball".
Feel free to post if more info is needed. The cap itself isn't the problem, it's the gas tank flange that's a bear. Dave & I both bought the caps from http://www.cobraaccessories.com about $125 a pop.
I still can't thank Rolling Thunder enough.
