I am reinstalling my seat belts on my 74 convert and am not sure how the shoulder belt should be bolted down. There is a small green plastic button on the side of the retractor that says "Do Not Remove", should this face towards the drivers side or the pass. side? Juliet says she has posted photos of her install but could not find the pics in the archives. If anyone can point me to those that should should answer my question. Thanks Wells
The belt should face forward. I may be missing something here but thought that there was only one logical way for them to bolt in, would not want the belt pulling out towards the rear :)
Obviouly, I too have a '74 vert. It does not have shoulder belts. Could you either post or preferably e-mail me pictures after you have them installed.
Would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Ken,
There are bolt holes on the top of the rear wheel wells. You should be able to see the anchor nut by looking behind the wheel between the frame and body at the top of the arch. The shoulder belt has a tab at the bottom rear with a bolt hold. The bolt goes through this and into the anchor nut. Very simple installation.
Here is a pic of an earlier shoulder belt (74 has a larger reel assembly but is basicly the same):
The mounting bolt goes through the "tab" in the rear and attaches to the anchor nut through the upper part of the rear wheelwell.
