I am restoring a 74 coupe. I measured my front sway bar at .825" Is it possible it rusted this much. What are the original stock diameters. It is an L48 model with no mod's at all.
Anyone know the stock sway bar for a '74 Coupe with l-48? I want to add one to the rear of my car, but have heard that it may hurt traction for drag racing?? true?
If I do add one, is 3/4" good for the stock one on the front??
Van Steel....im a lil confused...if I order the swar bar off the webpage for $110, it includes everything for the install? The web page doesnt indicate eitherway.

I don't see a problem w/running a sway bar for drag racing. I would think it would tighten up in the rear. Not 100% sure b/c I don't race. Do you want to put a 3/4" bar on the rear w/a stock front sway bar. I don't think that combo is all tha great. If you plan on leaving the front bar alone go w/the 5/8 rear bar.
Yes for $110 you get everything you need. Bushing, brackets, end links.
I am just finishing a 1980 that now has a 350 HO 330HP) and a 700-R4 tricked up by Bowtie. I have no racing aspirations but certainly some "spirited" driving through the hillsides and canyons. This is really for my 16 Year old son, so I'm really praying that I'm right about the racing. Do you still suggest the 5/8 rear bar for this setup as the power is quite different from original?
I have 18" rims in the back. They have a 5" offset. I had to relocate the parking bracket. Will a rear swar bar from you fit the car with the stock trailing arms?

You don't really rate sway bar sizes by horsepower. What size sway bar are you running up front? Stock. If you like taking corners hard and driving the car hard go w/the 3/4" bar. If you like driving like that a lot you may want to step up to the 7/8". If you do step up to this size bar, your definatly going to want to change the front sway bar to at least the 1-1/8"

Sway bar will fit on any trailing arm. Stock or offset. With your 18's I'm not sure your going to be able to clear the rim.
I do not have need of your product at this time but I would certainly appreciate your advice. The pic shows a GM FE7 7/16" rear bar that I rebuilt with GM bushings about a year ago. It was intended for my 1979, since sold. The bar now sits in the basement. I now have a 1967 SB 327 with a stock 3/4" front bar. I was thinking of adding that 7/16" rear bar. (The frame weld nuts are in place.) Do you see any advantages/disadvantages of such an install? My driving is not terribly spirited but if I can use that rear bar I would like to do so.
I jsut placed my order for a 1 1/8 front and 5/8 rear bar. Thank you Van steel and everyone else who responded.
I cant wait to corner as flat as my brothers 85 with Z51
I have a stock rear sway bar that shows some wear and the bushings are half shot. When do you need to replace the bar and when do you just replace the bushings?
I have a 73 with a BB 454. IF you recommend replacing the bar, what size do you recommend?
You don't need to replace your sway bar unless it's bent or rusted through. Bushings you can get anywhere and are very easy to replace. If you did want to get new sway bars I will nee to know how your driving habits are in order to give you any kind of recommendation. Do you like to drive your vette hard and corner hard or do you just cruise around town?
