Then ask for his number and call him everyday for a week with the same 45k offer.
Thats the best answer yet....Let us know how this works...
I'd ask for 45k and see what he says.
Then ask for his number and call him everyday for a week with the same 45k offer.

:iagree:
It's is arrogant enough to make offers on cars which are not for sale. To keep badgering you with the same offer is obnoxous. There are plenty of vettes for sale.
How much do you have into the car???
Sounds like crazy money to me, sell it :yesnod:
How did he get your number, bro????.....sounds like a stalker :skep: ......All paranoia aside.....you haven't told us: Why DON'T you want to sell it??????
i don't want to sell it because i love 69 year, and i've always wanted one even before i got the 74...i just know i won't find another one like it for the price i gave. it runs like a champ!
and yes, for $45k, i would sell....might try that for laughs.

This is an all original car. Once it's modded and changed, the originality is lost and will never be returned. Sure, it can be restored, but never returned to original. Once you restore the frame, lower it, etc you've made that step.
Now for the other side, this fellow is willing to pay you $11k profit on the car. He obviously values the originality aspect of the car and will pay a premium. Once you mod the car, buyers like him are gone. If you do all the mods on the '69 exactly the same as you did on the '74 what will it cost you? Maybe $6k or more? At that point, you'll likely not get more than $18k for it, as that is what non-original smallbock verts are bringing these days.
There are LOTS of '69's out there that have no intrinsic value as original cars, whether it's because they have been repainted, engines replaced, or just neglected over the last 34 years. They would be perfect candidates for a hop up resto-mod without the huge opportunity cost of doing your planned mods on this car.
Just my opinion, and I know I'm likely :banghead:
AL, the car is just not for sale....i like this car, and i'm afraid i won't find another one like it anytime soon. just my thoughts.

The '73 is now a 100% SCCA race car with a full cage, fuel cell, Craftsman truck NASCAR motor, etc. The '68 now has a 502, non-original paint color, and the original numbers matching 427 motor was up for sale the last I saw.
My point is this, look at the end game. If you're going to strip the car down and do a total resto-mod on it, why start with this car and take such a financial hit. Maybe I'm just too analytical, but taking a car that I could sell for $25k today, dumping countless hours of work into it along with $6 to $10k in mods, and ending up with an $18k car just makes absolutely no sense to me. If I were in your shoes, I'd sell the car, find a suitable '69 for about $15k and have the cash in hand to do all the mods and then some for $ZERO out of pocket.
I really don't want you to feel like I'm being stubborn and berating you, but I cannot see a compelling reason to keep this car for the intended purpose, rather than selling it to a guy who appreciates it for the rare original car that it is.
So here's a  to whatever you choose.
Shannon
