Default Two Turboo-400 questions

1) The bolt that goes through the filter sits about 1/2" below the filter, and does not contact the filter at all. Basically, the filter can be pulled off. Is this right?
2) The exhaust hanger at the back of the transmission; does it point towards the front or rear of the car? It can be bolted on either way.

Thanks

On my '74, if I recall correctly, it points to the rear. This hanger is where the pipe clamp goes to connect the head pipe to the tail pipe, and also connects to this hanger to align the pipes as they go through the holes in the crossmember.

My gut feeling is that it should point towards the rear, but I can't remember since it has been about 6 years since I took it all apart!

Don't know about the hanger, but the filter is correct. It is a shouldered bolt and the filter "floats" on it.
