Shark Attack,

I've got a couple of C-3's('74 vert & '71 coupe) in my garage that I'll gladly go over with you should you want to stop by. The '74 has a new frame under it so you can look at both to see what might age has done to the '71 frame compared to it. I do have pillar rust problems(birdcage) on the passenger side of the '71, so you can see what that is about. I haven't really done any major inspections to the '71, so maybe I'll take some things apart depending what everyone here says to look for and see what we come up with. And I have the tire carrier out of the '74 so you can see the whole rear frame to see what is involved in it.

I've even got the '74 for sale if you want to take a look.

Jerry,

The weekends are the only time I have available and a Saturday would be best. Just let me know when you would like to come by and I'll take the time. My house is easy to get to if you take 45S(Gulf Freeway), but I can give directions from 288 or 35 if needed.

You could also look in the Southwest section of this forum, lots of Texas stuff going on all the time.

Jerry,

I just shot you an IM with directions to my house. Next Saturday afternoon will work out fine for me if you want to come by. I'll even let you do the inspection on my '71 to find the problems that exist on it and I know we will find some although the vette has been well taken care of over the last 32 years.

Some of the things we will do are:
1)Remove the inside windshield moldings(sides & upper) to check for rust.
2)Pull the kick panels on each side and inspect the frame/body area.
3)Pull the rocker panels below the doors and check the outer frame.
4)Pull one rear wheel and check the frame/suspension parts.
5)Run the car up on roll-up stands and get underneath and check all the front suspension and more general frame inspections.(I always put jack stands under the car by the way)
6)Go through general things that are quirky about C-3's(front light vaccum actuators, etc)

The '74 will be a good example to compare to if needed.

Anything anyone else on the forum can think about that we can go through? I've been in the driving mode lately(had the '71 out 3 times this week), so working on vettes has been on the sidelines.
