I'm going to try and repair mine, the kit isn't that expensive and it doesn't look that hard to do. The Corvette Faq has a lot of information from Jim Shea a retired engineer from Saginaw steering division of GM. His articles are great and very thorough and complete. http://www.corvettefaq.com

I rebuilt mine, no problems yet, and way cheap compared to buying a rebuilt one. It's worth a try because you don't have much to lose. Be prepared to quickly adjust the unit when re-installed, it can cause the steering to rapidly drive to one side or the other if not "centered". If the engine is allowed to keep running for any length of time it will overheat the power steering fluid and you can have a "boilover". Please don't ask how I know this....

I have to replace mine also. ZIP has the lowest price ($200 - 5%), the others are around $225. This incluses 4 new hoses and a rebuilt Valve and Ram. You would atleast replace these parts. For around $200 I think it's worth getting rebuilt units (and they say it's already centered), then maybe or maybe not getting it work and taking it apart again... Just my $0.02 worth...
