Okay, the car is an L48 1980, but the block stamping doesn't match. I've tried many places figure out what block it is, but no where seems to have a total match. I've narrowed it to '69 - '77, 2bc - 4bc, 2-bolt or 4-bolt. Yeah, I really haven't found much.
Here are the numbers that I've been able to read off of the block. I'm certain on the rear casting number, but the other two are difficult to read. I'm sure about the CMJ on the last one. I'd really appreciate it if someone could offer some clarification here, thanks.

The story goes, my dad bought this vette a while back. I'm not sure where he got it from that it was an L82, but i recently checked the vin and it's not an L82. I've been buying L82 parts for a long time (according to the local autoparts stores), and haven't had any problems. Quite an embarrasing predicament. :(
The block casting # is for a 350ci that was produced from 70-76. The CMJ suffix was used twice; first in 1974 as a 350ci in the full size Chevy and second in 1980 as a 305 in the full size Chevy and in the Camaro.
So since that block was only produced 70-76 that would rule out the '80 305. So would say you have a 1974 350 out of a full size Chevy.
