My PS control valve is leaking. Should I replace with a rebuilt and return my original as a core? or Buy new and keep the original with other original parts box for the future? Also should I go ahead and replace the PS cylinder at the same time? New/Rebuilt? Hoses were done last year. Can I do this with a basic socket and wrench set on ramps?
I successfully rebuilt mine and the kit was very inexpensive. It believe it to be a project that most anyone could do. For detailed information search the CF archives or check out http://www.corvetteFAQ.com
I cannot see a reason to replace the PS cylinder if it is not leaking. Spend money on broken stuff!
I also have to replace mine. I was going to get the rebuilt units from ZIP ($200) includes 4 new hoses and rebuilt valve & ram. I don't mind to rebuilt it myself, but I heard that the valve has to be centered. The rebuilt units are already centered. Did you have trouble centering yours? I also like to keep my factory parts but this could be an exception...
Actually, I got lucky and it did not require any adjustment after re-installation!?!  but the procedure appears to be very simple.
$200 sounds like a fair price for all of the parts you listed! :yesnod:
I used a rebuilt controller. My main concern was time and getting the job done once. One fear was that after rebuilding the thing would still leak. If you have the time and paitence fiddle with it go for the kit.
I'm leaning towards a rebuilt one. I read some previous posts that were saying that there seems to be more problems with the new ones not holding up (1yr leak).
