Default Suspension Question .

I am looking to put a complete new suspension under my 75 er but need some advice.

I am looking for a firm ride and good for fast cornering.
I don't go on track so only road use .
I was planning on getting the Street & Slalom Suspension System but am afraid that it will be too hard an that my teeth will fall out after driving on a bad road.
So the other option is the Grand Touring Suspension System.

Is there somebody that has one of these on theyr car or can give me some advice on this ?

Thanks.

I run the Street/Slalom setup in my 80,and like it.The ride is firm, and if the road surface gets rough, the ride gets rough too. I once coined the phrase I could feel a dime in the road and though maybe a bit of an exageration, the point made is true. The cornering is tight, and I believe the suspension is better than my 15" tires can handle.I'm a low budget guy,and drive typically 20,000 miles a year,so the tires get replaced every two years ready or not.The cost of the 15" tires is half what the larger tires are and from what I hear the lower profile tires ride even rougher,as the sidewall can't absorb the road shock as well as a 15" tire would.

I've been fidling wqith my suspension for 16 years on my 771 SB vert. If I were in your shoes, here's what I would do:

1. replace all wearing parts: A arm bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends, idler arms, trailing arm bushings, strut rod bushings, sway bar bushings, diff front mount. Use poly bushings.
2. Replace steering box with a rebuilt unit from Vans or Zip.
3. Replace rag joint on steering column.
4. Replace front springs with 460s from VB.
5. Install 1 1/8" front sway bar. Use poly mount bushings.
6. Install front spreader bar from VB
7. Install TRW 315 rear spring with 8" grade 8 bolts from VB.
8. Install VB smart strut bracket. Add HD strut rods if budget permits.
9. Install 5/8" rear sway bar - NO LARGER! Use poly mount bushings.10. Install Bilstein Sport shocks all around.
11. Lower the rear until the half shafts are almost level.
12. Install 245/60/15's front and 255/60/15's rear. BFG T/As are a good street value.
13. Do 4 wheel thrust alignment per Guldstrand specs.

You won't believe it's the same car!

I run the Grand Touring Suspension System. I also have poly bushing and body mounts. I like the ride (not too harsh but firm) and cornering. I used the rear composit mono-spring and it improved the ride quality. The larger rear anti-sway bar realy improves cornering feel but I had to fine tune the adjustable end links to prevent major oversteer. This set-up still out performs the 255/60 - 15 BFGs. Updating to 17s soon.
