Default A/C removal

the a/c in my 77 is no longer working and fixing it is no close on the things to do list for my car. i am thinking of removing the whole system. anyone know of any resources that could give me any info on this procedure? also, if anyone has done this and can give my any advice it would be helpful. thanks

If you are ever going to fix it, it would probably be better to just take the belt off and leave it in place. Having a working A/C adds to the value of your car whether you use it or not.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing too, does not work, bearing bad so I just took the belt off for this summer. I'm going to have it evacuated out and just start unbolting! keep it all and store it. :smash:

i think the bearings are bad in my compressor. it's making the bad clicking sound. so i think i will take your advice and remove the belt. maybe fix the a/c later on down the road.

Just did it to my 77...it's a snap. Just begin by removing compressor, hoses, etc. that make up the system. I carefuly bagged and tagged all components and stored, just in case. It dawned on me last summer that I never even drive the car with the t-tops on, so why have the AC. Sure looks "cleaner"
under the hood.
