I've been reading a lot of posts from other '76 owners. I see a lot that list the car with a stock 3-speed. I bought mine used and it has a 4-speed with the L48. Was that just an option back in 1976 or did someone do a change out?
the 3 speed reference is to the TH350 automatic transmission. all manual transmission cars were four speeds. if you have a four speed automatic, it was a modification by a previous owner.
in '76- l48 was available w/a standard 4 speed or Turbo-hydra-matic
the L82 was available w/a 4-speed close ratio or Turbo-Hydra-Matic for an additional $134.00 no 3 speed

Just to clarify there was a 3 speed manual offered in the 60's for vettes (who the hell ordered that?) but non in the 70's or 80's.
Only about 100 to 200 where produced so they are rare but desirable? I know fauxrs wants one, he loves rare options.
Have a friend that restores Vettes and sells parts and cars, he says 3-speed manual is hard to sell. He said the last one he had (a 68) they had to swap it for a 4-speed to sell it. He says rare does not equal desireable.
