I am finding myself more inclined to flare my future vette in front and rear. What size wheels will then be able to fit under the car? Please include the backspace also, IE: 15x10 W/5"BS Thanks
The 10" is the rim width but that does not include the lip on the end, usually the lip is 1/4 an inch on both sides, making the wheel a trye 10,5" wheel rim edge to rim edge. With 5" backspacing that means it has 1/4" pos. offset
That means that 5,5" of the wheel is outboard, that's 1,5" more than stock (stock wheel is 8"wide but w/ rim edges taken into account it's actually 8,5" and the offset is 1/4"pos, the mouting flange is dead in the middle of the tire so when you don't take the rim edge in account it's 0 offset)
Merlin522 was using 14" wide rear wheels on his 74 'vert. He was also using the Eckler's style flares all around. I think the rear tires were 345/35/19 and fronts were 295/40/19. Backspacing was stock all around. I'm running 20x10 rear wheels with 285/30/20 tires tucked under the stock body lines...
