OK..reviving the A/C on the '72 and the wiring is a mess. My catalog has '71 diagram and '73, but no '72!! This thing is killing me! Anybody know where to look for a good wiring diagram for a 72??
Even better, anyone with pics of their stock A/C wiring??
What's driving me nuts is this set of wires with a large "fuse" in the end of the plug with the word "therm" on it. What the heck is this for and where does it go?? It has one black wire (marked "A"), a green (B), and another green (C) with a female plug at the end with 2 slots (one has a black ground wire with an "O" fitting on the end). Anyway, I can't figure out a thing here and need some help from anyone with the know how. I appreciate any links, pics, and thoughts!!
Hey! I got some of them figured out! I needed to get a blower motor blowout "thingy" and some of the connectors went right on. The other thing has no answer yet???
72, the O ring goes to ground near the compressor clutch connectors the plug fits on to.....the other black wire goes to that crazy fuse block....what's up is that block thing is a fuse to be deliberately blown when freon is lo....saving compressor failure, there is a small button on back of many of those A6 compressors that is a pressure switch, if everything is OK, the switch is open and everyone is happy, but when pressures are lo enough the switch closes, and blows that 'fuse' in the crazy looking inline block there, hense the 3 wires to the block...one to the back of the compressor, one to the connector with 2 wires to the clutch, and one leading back to the harness...which is eventually the 12 volt source from your dash....turning on the compressor clutch...
the source wire is typically green.....
Thanks for , the information! That helps a lot! I have replaced the "old" system with a modern conversion kit, with a Sanden compressor and R134a, so adjusting the wiring to the new kit is important, and confusing so far. Still need to get my hands on a wiring diagram.!!!!!
