Modifying the shifter is a snap.. it'll take MAYBE 2hrs max to do that... and getting a driveshaft? I have 3 shops around here that can shorten mine, weld on the new universal, and balance it.. or just have them build me an aluminum one! For way less then the price of the Kiesler kit.. I can have the same or better setup.

Again it comes down to how much you value your time, I hate running around looking for parts and dropping off/picking up stuff that needs modification. Sounds like a long process that could be accomplished in one day if all the parts are sitting just waiting to be installed. For me that is worth at least $300 so now you are about $500 diff, if they bring the price down to lets say $2,500 and throw in the shifter handle then I think it would be worth it to me to go the Keilser route, realy depends on the discount from a group purchase. Comparing them right now I would do neither, I have a t5 that will work with the same amount of work as the unaltered tremec, through in $1,000 kit to strengthen the t5 beyond the trmec and I am still ahead.

Doesn't look like that is going to stick out the stock hole so a fabbed up console is needed; more time, money and energy spent. Nickles, dimes and time all add up.

No.. the fab piece is just zoomed in. Look at the bolts.. they are small hex bolts. I've talked with the builder of this, and he said it fits perfect in the stock console, and tunnel

here..

But hey.. it's your $$ Spend it how you like.

My bad, looked like is was not coming out the stock hole. Guess I just put a higher value on my time and a lower value on my skills, I would not be able to fab that bracket myself so I would have to have it done for me. I have extra $, not extra time, so the pre-packaged route works for me, those who have the time and skills then the do it yourself route would be better. If at the end of the day we are all happy then let's

 and  .

Heck.. when I get this trans this winter, I'd be willing to make up a dozen or so of these brackets, and offer them at a cheap deal. Once I lay up the bridgport to do one.. doing 20 is nothing but a little time. The machine does all the work... I just say go! :yesnod:

Count me in for the 5-speed high torque model, provided the price is right. Discount should be greater than $300 which is what they offered at Carlisle as their "show price".

NO FAIR!! I've already ordered mine with the discount that Keisler offered Vette owners. It's supposed to be done by November. When I spoke with Keisler, they were extremely busy (They received 28 orders as a result of the show). There might not be much incentive to give a very big discount, but it might be worth a try.

Z-man you are absolutly correct! i spoke with Mr Keisler today and they really have no interest in a group purchase...
apparently these are selling like hotcakes even without a discount...so why should they?
i ordered mine today and was told not to expect it for 8-10 weeks...!!!
he said that the turn around time was about 2 weeks before but they cant build them fast enough...i wonder what effect the article in Corvette Fever had on sales!?! http://www.keislerauto.com/gm/articl...fever_0308.pdf
anyways guys...any hopes of a group purchase are useless...
as far as that other kit goes, im sorry but i dont like the looks of it...just my opinion...
also its too incomplete...
today was quite a day...i spent over $4000 on my car!

I know how you feel. I dropped a wad within two weeks - New engine, transmission, supercharger and front pulley plates...!!!

I know the other kit looks tempting, but it doesn't include the driveshaft and I didn't see mention of the rear mounting bracket. All that stuff is included which will save me a ton of time and effort with all the other things I'm doing. The package cost is worth the effort IMO.

I just keep telling myself - "Let's see...a new Vette runs about 50 grand - I'll be spending a fraction of that and having much more fun..."!!! :D :D

i keep telling myself the same thing!
i now have about $26,000 into a car that MIGHT bring $16,000 on a GOOD day with the "right" person wanting it!
thing is...id NEVER sell it! im building it for ME... :yesnod:
