Slicks.........
What size slicks will fit a 74 stingray. I want them a little wider than the stock size tires. Is there anyway to narrow the rearend? I will begin a rebuild of the rearend early next year with one of Toms rearends, I thought this would be a good time to narrow it a bit If possible.

Narrowing the rear frame rails is not an easy task. I ran 10 X 28 inch slicks for years. With 9 X 15 wheels with 4.5 back spacing. They were overkill in a low 12 second Vette. But the beauty of them is I never had to cry about slick or poorly prepped tracks. Just drop the air pressure and you can adjust how hard they hook. 10 inch slicks are enough traction to get those super fast street class cars to run in the 8 seconds.
From what i've seen both 9 and 10 inch slicks are good to maybe 550 hp without going to drag shocks and worrying about weight transfer.

You don't need to run full slicks... Slicks are overkill unless you have 800+ HP...
