I just noticed the Accel distributor on my 454 73 Vette does not have a vacuum advance (I've only had it a few weeks). I'm of the opinion it would be more streetable with a vacuum advance. Agreed????
Assuming we all agree with that, I'd appreciate some distributor recommendations. I'll soon have a decent cam, headers, etc and someday may go with some aluminum heads.
Vac adv does not make a car more streetable what is does is give you better fuel economy and lower cruising tempature. You will not tell any diff in around town driving. You don't need it but if you cruise alot or run on the e-way it will increase your gas mileage.
Your vacuum advance needs are very dependant on your camshaft. If you have a stock low to mid performance cam then you can use some vacuum advance. If you have a factory high performance cam or an aftermarket cam you are going to want less vacuum advance, possibly even none.
