My painter had 15 hours of total labor in my car. I took it there totally stripped, primed, block sanded, and partially masked. All that he had to do was mask the rest of it, tack it off, shoot it, then wetsand and buff.
Okay! I don't need much body work, if any. The car was originally green and painted white in 1994.
Two paint shops that do vettes have told me three to four weeks. Just curious if this is about right for proper preparation and painting?
If they were to work on your car alone, I'd say 3-4 days (given minimal body work.) But because they're probably working on multiple cars, 3-4 weeks sounds more reasonable. I delivered my '75 to the painter with ALL of the body work complete and told them to leave it alone, just clean the surface, shoot the base and clear, and put the doors back on. It took them about a week to complete.
Three months total which included sanding, block, priming, and actual base coat/clear on the body along with the doors, hood, rear latch, taken off the car and painted separately. The only way to do it.
