Default 128mph at 5600 rpms?

Another interesting part of the Dyno run was the top speed. According to the Dynojet my car was going 128mph at 5600rpms. With my rear gear at 3.70 and the muncie m-20 trans does that seem about right?

Check out Richmondgear.com go to the calculators and you will be able to comfirm your numbers and try some differant gear ratios and see the effect it will have on your car. The drag race calculator is pretty accurate for predicting mph if you punch in your rwhp #'s.

Ratman,

I bet that is pretty close assuming you run a 27-28" tall rear tire.

With about a 28.5" tall tire 128 mph would be about right. What size tires are you running? You can play with a calculator here: http://www.angelfire.com/fl/procrastination/rear.html

The tires are BFG 255-60-15, I think they are about 26.5 tall?

According to the Summit catolog the BFGs are 27.1 for the 255 60 15s which would put you right about in the range you are saying.

i have the same gears and tranny.... seems a bit high....my speedo is off on the high side so i tried lining up my dyno sheets with the mph against the rpm but the mph stopped before 5600rpm....still seems high though...

Also, don't worry about it if your numbers don't exactly fit the calculator. Even if the tach and speedometer were perfect, tires aren't perfectly rigid (especially at those speeds), so the calculators are going to be a little off.

Yep, it sounds real close.

Here is a quick ha ha funny story.

Last year I was still working the kinks out of Killer (aka my 69 vert). My wife has a 2000 six speed with 3.45 rear gears. I was in Killer and she was in the 00 early on a Sunday morning heading over a large wide bridge. Okay, those of you that are super conservative...quit reading right....here....

Okay, everybody else...I pulled along side of her around 65 mph to simply wave and smile. We were going to meet for breakfast, then go our seperate ways this day. I rumbled along side in my 468 cid fuel injected bb with muncie four and 3.55 gears sitting on 26" tall tires.

She thought I was trying to race her...Just as I got on her right flank, I saw the tail of the 00 squat and it took off. So...I dropped to third, pumped the throttle and reeled her right back up. I snap fourth, and am getting ready to zoom past her (she had jumped me by at least four car lengths by the time I realized what she was doing). I come up on her hard. Just as I get even with her I see that red C5 slipping away from me. Instinctively I press harder on the pedal making sure I am actually flooring the car..but, the C5 gets further and further away.....

In total bewilderment, I glance down at my gauges. The autometer procomp tach is pegged at 6,000 RPM.. while the speedo was floating around 130 mph. I was topped out!!!!!!!!!!!! It is a this time I see the C5 still accelerating into the distance...the wind is roaring around my head (top down), the engine is screaming for mercy....and I am getting my clocked cleaned by my 4'11" blonde haired blue eyed wife!

Oh....you better believe I have not heard the end of this. Every chance she gets to let my friends know how bad she busted me on the buckman bridge.... :mad

So....I guess it is no surprise to any of you that I am right now putting the finishing touches on the ROD Six. If all goes well it will go for a maiden voyage this weekend. With a .62 final drive...well, let's just say that if we have a re-match, I can hold my own a little longer (although she still has a mathmatical advantage on me...but....let's not tell her that ;) )

Yep. I'm thinking of dropping down to 3.08s. My engine combo makes power from off idle to 6400, so I really do not need these 3.36s I have. Plus with 285/40-17 rear tires (26" tall, but loaded they have to be more like 25.5-25.75") I'm done by 140+ (assuming I rap it out to 6400 in 5th). Honestly, though, that's plenty fast for me in this car. ;)

Okay guys --- check out this website !!! http://www.chevelles.com/techref/tecref24.html
This is the site that made me decide to go with the Tremec TKO .
The trip to Carlisle was great ----- at 70 mph, I'm only taching 1800 rpm.
Gotta love it ! According to the formula (w/308 rear gears) at 6000 rpm
She'll be going 234 mph ! (I know I'll never go that !)
I also got 17 mpg on the maiden voyage, so with the big-block --you know
I'm happy ............... Rick
