Default 72 Vette Heater Core Bypass Question

I just finished completely restoring the A/C system in my 72 to all original
condition and R12 charge ( was 134 - but unsatisfactory cooling). It cools
better now and I get vent temps of 43 degrees. I live in Texas where it gets
very hot during the summer. Has anyone else bypassed the heater core
to stop radiant heat in the air box in order to get better cooling through the air
ducts ? Just wondering if it will help.

Default Re: 72 Vette Heater Core Bypass Question (cdc)

Yes, I did it to keep my swiss cheese heater core from leaking on my new carpet. I just removed the hoses that went from the expansion tank to the heater core and rerouted them. I can take a picture if you want. This is on a non AC 1971 car...keep that in mind.
