I am about to launch a search for an exhaust shop to bend some for me, and also put in an H pipe, and maybe do a better job with the mufflers. I am getting tired of the flexpipe that is in there now, and the sagging rear pipes... But if it costs a trillion dollars I don't think I can afford it. Hedman makes a bent extension for that exact purpose, but they don't fit our vettes without additional cutting and welding.
An economical solution to the problem of hooking-up hedders to an existing exhaust system. No longer will the hedder installer have to fabricate or "jury-rig" a hook-up. An "S" bend to allow for clearance of drive-shafts, cross-members, brackets, braces, etc. Comes in three sizes. Also available with a universal flange which will allow hook-up to virtually any hedder manufactured.
Have a set of those sitting on my dining room table, need to size em up to see what needs to be one to use them. My current section was made by Bubba (Tuffy) Muffler and looks like a child with bad vision did it.
Mark, contact Denny at Mufflex in Trenton. He built my whole system. He does a lot of race cars and heavy breathing street cars. He can fix you up. He will do everything from bending 1 pipe to a full system. He was installing a system on a Viper while mine was being done and he has a book of most of his custon installs. Not the cheapest guy in town but also not a billion dollars either. You get what you pay for.
Mark, don't you live in New Jersey? If you do you can get them connected at Kasper's Korner on Rt. 42 in Turnersville. I had mine done there. Took about an hour and I waited while they did it. I forget exactly how much it was but I think it was around $150 to $180. Here's a pic.
Gordon, based on your recommendations Mufflex is at the top of my list, but Trenton is a little far for me. Turnersville is quite a bit farther! It's the kind of job that there should be at least 50 competent shops between my house and there. (I live in Summit) I just have to find one - or I could end up going to Mufflex. With all the money I have spent on exhaust kits and assorted pieces that don't work I could have had a professional job done.... but it's just been soooo much fun!! MJ
