Getting ready for a rebuild and need to know if the original 350 that came out of my vette is a 2 or 4 bolt main. Guess I could just strip it down but it sure is greasy grimy. Likewise I might be selling the ceasefire injection that is on it now.
actually its going to go in my full size 1990 blazer 4X4 that Im going to use as a tow viechle and daily driver. The combo will be as follows:
edelbrock tbi intake and cam kit
low compression heads off a 88 gta trans am
aound a 9-1 compression.
some smog legal headers and a computer chip.
Most trucks come with 4 bolts for a reason I suspect at least my 78 did.
Guess there is no reason to over build it :nono: since it wont ever go past 5000 rpm any way and needs to have lots of low end power.
Always wonder why they did not put TPI's in trucks, they make killer low end torque and would increase gas mileage. Ever thought about one? Can be had for under $500. I am going to talk my father into buying a truck to put a TPI system in it that I bought but decided not to use along with a 383 stroker, think should be a real stump puller.
this blalzer came with the thottle body injection not the tuned port. I like it due to its simplicity and combined with the 700 r4 gas milage is much better than my old truck. If I really get crazy I was thinking of trying to put the cross fire tbi off the vette engine in the blazer, but I think thats to much of a p.i.t.a. to be worth it.

Probably would be overkill on the torque but would look  when you popped the hood. You can convert over to tpi from tbi somewhat easy from what I understand, there is a write up on it at the F-body forum I visit www.thirdgen.org in case you curious. I can never leave well enough alone. :)
they are 2 bolts but you can drill and tap them with out too much trouble. I belive that the blocks are actually 010s, which is a desirable block, just the L48s and such in our vettes were not 4 botls, id jsut drill it if iwere you and buy new caps.
Everyone who thinks they can do this at home with a drill bushing and a tap is seriously mistaken, although it seems like Milodon says this on their page, it's a job strictly for a competent machineshop
I am with TWIN TURBO on this one. Homemade splayed mains are a VERY BAD IDEA! Did you every tap threads into metal. It is a PITA. I just tapped the rear differential for a drain plug. I even had the whole assembly out. I forgot tapping a metal hole sucks.... metal holes mind you... hee heee...
Two bolt mains are good for a solid 450-500 hp/tq combo. My car had a 4 bolt main and my new motor is a 2 bolt. No worries at 395HP and 415 ft lbs tq....... From what Golen Engines tell me, 4 bolt is just for braggin on the street. Race cars- sure go 4 bolt.... :leaving:
