Default Still running rich!!!

After all of the changes made to my 850DP, wires in circuts, smaller jets, 73 and 74 it still is blowing black out the pipes. I washed it this morning and after about 50 miles of driving today the lower valance and bumper are starting to get black again. Also my gas gauge is moving fast to the left! Once again its running very well but obviously lots of unburned gas is going out the rear. I think its time for a Q-Jet?

I was having a simular problem and found that the float boals were vibrating loose and causing the accelerator pump to dump in too much fuel. Just a thaught.

How about considering fuel injection? I may go for this once I finish other parts of the car.... BUT, I hope this new Holley 750 works out... We'll see..

My engine guy told me that the best way to go would be fuel injection, but I dont have a spare $2,500! I guess its time to try a smaller carb, 750, either another Holley or Q-Jet or Edelbrock......

I talked to the Holley people about this same problem. I have a 670cfm street avenger on my 74. They told me it was probably not the jets but the power valve. They told me to take a vacumn reading off the intake with the Vett in gear at idle & to get a power valve that was 1/2 the reading. Haven't tried it yet but you might give this a try.

Might also try a plug in the rear pv or a lower rated one than in the front, prolly don't need all the gas both are dumping in when they open.
