READY TO PUT DOWN DEPOSIT, WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Frame off, l-46, 4spd, PS,PB etc. looks like a good deal.

not bad
I'm not sure what you're after in terms of a numbers matching car, but here's my take. The ad states that the casting numbers are correct, but makes no mention of the front pad stamp. I would assume that this is not the original motor and that the numbers do not match until you can verify it with your own two eyes. What is the tach redline? The car has a base model radiator, which should not have been used with the L-46 motor. It has later model ignition shielding and an aluminum intake which were not used in '69. It also has a round head passenger door mirror and later model rocker panel trim which are both incorrect for '69.
I personally think that $25k is high for a non-matching smallblock '69 vert. If you can verify that the car is indeed matching numbers, then low $20's would be about right.
Just my $0.02,
Shannon

Shannon is dead on--a lot of non original parts on that car & the description sounds like a sly way of saying that it has a replacement block. Which is just fine, except that $25K is way high for that. IMHO, no more than $20K or $21K, and much less if it's not a bonafide body off resto (all new or restored parts, a blasted and refinished undercarraige, etc.). Page is also right--you really need to go inspect it, or at the very least, user the forum's member locator & find some forum guys in the neighborhood & have them check it out for you.

Shannon you have IM. Appreciate the input that's why I'm asking you all.
It's frame-off and that's what I'm looking for, this one is also sweet but no idea on amount of miles since (if ever) rebuilt.

David, tach redline should be as follows: 5300 = 300hp, 6000 = 350hp, 5600 = 390/400hp, 6500 = 430/435hp. In my experience the 350hp cars came with a 26" core copper/brass radiator with a plastic fan shroud and no expansion tank. '69 was a weird year for cooling system changes, and the 18" aluminum radiator could have been used, since this is a non-A/C car.
Aluminum intake most likely isn't LT-1 as it would not fit under the std smallblock hood. The side mirror is either a C2 or generic aftermarket. What kind is on the drivers door?
The car at CnV looks to be much nicer, but their idea of a "correct" engine compartment leaves a little to be desired as well. The distributor shield is late model, there is no vertical ignition shielding, all the AIR system is missing, and many other minor nits. This car does have a very big plus, in that it is an A/C vert which really brings a premium.

You aren't looking for an original, NCRS type ride are ya? You shouldn't, judging by the way you modded the 77!

We have a car right here in San Diego you should look at! It's a 69 two top Convertible with what appears to be 51,000 original miles. Greg has show detailed the undercarriage, and has done mechanical resto as required. It's going to be repainted in quality base/clear and have bumpers rechromed. Interior will hve new carpet and seat covers. The original dash and console are excellent and the original door panels are excellent.
Here's the history: The car was in the same family since 71 and they didn't have the time to restore it since the owner(grandfather) passed on. They couldn't verify it was 50K or 150K, but he only drove short distances the whole time he owned it. It's pretty much been sitting the past ten years after they got the car. Here's what make me pretty certain it's 50K miles:
I replaced all the shocks, and the front ones were original Delco with a late 68 date code on them. The alernator, starter, carb are all original and may have never been rebuilt. Suspension parts appear all orignal and in good condition. Exhaust pipes may have been original, but the car will have a new aluminzed exhaust system on it. Seat covers are orignal but worn and will be replaced. Soft top appears to be original but probably will be replaced due to window cloudiness . The whole smog pump setup is intact and the car has never been modified.
The original colors are Riverside Gold with black interior. Options are the L46 350, M21 Muncie and 3.70 rear(all original also), Power steering, power windows, tilt-tele, and two tops.
I may drop the tank and at least shoot a digital of the sticker. I'd consider it a survivor but it needs enough cosmetic resto that it will be partially restored.
If you're interested in the car and don't like gold it could be painted to the color of your choice. Low 20's price either way.

No I'm not a NCRS **** however I respect their stance and if I'm to pay 25-30K for a small block it should be all there.
However I think you better have a **** either checkout a long distance buy for you or go with you to inspect before cash changes hands.
You would do well buying the Technical Imformation Manual and Judging Guide from the dreaded NCRS http://www.ncrs.org
It will be a big help in determining if a peticular car is "all there".
Good Luck. :chevy
Cali, you are just itchin for a chrome bumper vert! 69 is the best year for it, but i personally think thats too much for that car. kinda makes me feel bad for what i paid for my 69. not really....

The second car definitely has my vote--I don't see any nits other than the one's Shannon's already picked, though personally for that money, I'd want a big block (as well as all the correct parts, esp. since they claim the engine comp. is correct).
