Recently I heard a clicking sound, took it to my repairman and learned that I had a broken rocker arm.It was repaired, but now I hear more clicking.Today I removed one valve cover and noticed small metal pieces .I did not see anything broken.I am wondering if this stuff was left over from the broken rocker arm,and if I've got metal circulating throughout my engine.I also pulled the valve cover because the engine was smoking on the passenger side.Tomorrow I will pull the driver's side valve cover.I'm hoping that I will find no metal pieces. If I do ,is it possible to flush the engine in an attempt to get rid of the particles or should I just get ready for a rebuild? Please also give me your thought on the proper valve cover gasket.cork is being used now. Thanks in advance to all of you that respond.
Tankman
Re: flushing engine due to metal thingys (tankman)
uh well....
It could be a lot of things. If you dont really know where to start, i'd just say to bring it to someone who knows how to look at this. I mean your engine does sound like it's on the line here.
As far as gasket, look into permetex's permadry plus. Its kind of a plastic/rubber gasket. I use them alot and i love them, seal very well and you can use them over and over. You can get them from autozone for like $25.
