Time is getting near to start work on the body of the 78.
I have always disliked the antenna protruding from the fender and plan to remove it.
What can I replace it with? Is there an antenna that can be placed under the body where it is invisible.
I am thinking of possibly under the dash or rear window since most modern cars have it either in their windshield or rear window.
I've got a similar problem on my '79. What I'm going to do this winter is remove the whip and cut it down flush (or about a half inch from the nut). This way there is no chance of someone twisting it while it's in a parking lot and make it easier to get the car cover on. With plentyof radio stations around here I'm not worried about having trouble tuning in stations by cutting the whip down.
No I want it completely removed, have a power antenna already. I don't like the look of it up, don't mind the look of it when its down but would prefer an alternative so I can glass in the hole and smooth out the lines of the vette a bit more.
I am doing that on my 78. Glassing the hole in and putting an antennae inside the fender on that side. I don't care if it doesn't pick up as well, I don't want that hole in the car. I have heard of people using the rear window defroster as a receptor. Might look into that, not sure how well it would work.
