I have been working with the underhood wiring of the heater motor with the help of "pressurerat". I have power now to the fan switch and have 12v to the blower relay mounted on the AC box. The problem seems to be with the purple wire hook up. Here is the path, single blue wire connects to 2 purple wires. one of the ppl wires goes to the relay the other plugs into a black wire that goes through a condesor attached to the blower casing and then out to the blower hot lead connector. Problem is I am not getting any power going into the motor. is it possible that the condensor is bad?
Now for the reverse polarity question. I used 2 alligator clips 1 grounded to the frame and hooked to the blower ground and the other jumped from a hot 12v source and conneted to the blower hot location. The fan comes on but seems to be blowing in reverse. There is no air coming from the vents inside instead I fel air coming out the bottom of the ac box under the hood. When I was putting the window motors in there was a warning for not testing them w\out them being mounted or reverse polarity could occur. Is it possible that I have done this to the blower motor?
Re: New blower motor question. Reverse polarity??? (BlackRat)
Ha! Still stuck with me!!! I dont think you reversed your polarity...I really don't think that can happen on a blower motor. It sounds like one of the 'doors' is not open in the right position for the air to come through the vents. These operate off of engine vacuum . If you dont have your engine running yet, you can move these doors with a hand held vacuum pump like a mityvac. Try this first. As far as your condenser is concerned, test that wire with an ohm meter to see if you have continuity. If you have 12 volts coming to the big purple wire when the switch is on, then the blower should work. You shold have 12v at the fat orange wire to the relay when the key is on. If you do, and have power at the switch, your relay might be bad. I have fixed these by taking the cover off and filing the contacts inside with a nail file. Also, make sure the thumbwheel is NOT in the off position when testing. Feel free to call me this evening Wade if you need assistance!
Re: New blower motor question. Reverse polarity??? (PRESSURERAT)
Thanks :D I sent you an email but didn't think you would be up as early as I posted this. I will check both of those things tonight and let you know. I didn't know that there were doors that operated off of vacuume. I thought that the thumb wheeel and cable handled that. I don't have the motor in the car yet so will have to use a vacuum pump to open the. Thanks again.
