remove the 2 drain plugs on the bottom of the block and stick a garden hose in the thermostat, rinse it out completely untill there's clear water flowing out and not rust colored goop. You might want to remove the heater hose and drain & flush that too.

:iagree:
Before you do this you could add some dishwashing detergent to the radiator and run the car for about 1/2 hour, then proceed with the clean water flush.
I've talked to a couple of guys who have run that decalcifier ( CLR) through their cooling systems..It helps to free up any calcium deposits in the system and also the heater core. Let it run through the engine for about fifteen minutes and then do a clean water flush..Hey..you can use it in your coffee pot..so I'm guessing it can't hurt anything..There is a really high mineral content in my city's water supply so in the spring when I put fresh water and antifreeze in my car..I use distilled water...It's not that expensive and and helps to keep the rad and the rest of the cooling system crud free..Just my 02..Happy Motoring.. :auto:

Re: Motor needs flushing (flood)
Im getting ready to do a radiator clean up myself. Did he just say dishwashing soap?
cool.
Not soap. Something like Cascade or other detergent used in dishwashers. If you use the stuff used to wash dishes by hand you'll never get the bubbles out of the cooling system.
