timing tab?

Default timing tab?
while changing the water pump in my 68, i noticed that my timing tab is welded to my timing cover. Is that normal? It did not look like a factory weld to me.

Mine has two bolt holes that line up with the timing chain cover and bolt on. It's aftermarket - not sure about original equipment.

Most earlier covers the tab was welded on. In later years GM started to bolt some of them on.

I have seen some of them welded on before. The one on my 71 was attached with two bolts though.
